Psalm 119 Devotional
22 Days: Knowing is Loving
Day 10 (Yodh – verses 73-80)
Your hands made me and fashioned me; Give me understanding that I may learn Your commandments. May those who fear You see me and be glad, because I wait for Your word. I know, O’ Lord, that Your judgments are righteous, and that in faithfulness You have afflicted me. O’ may Your loving kindness comfort me, according to Your word to Your servant. May Your compassion come to me that I may live, for Your law is my delight. May the arrogant be ashamed, for they subvert me with a lie; but I shall meditate on Your precepts, may those who fear You turn to me, even those who know Your testimonies. May my heart be blameless in Your statutes, so that I will not be ashamed.
God’s creative power is awesome, and in that creation, He has made us (Genesis 1:26-27). He is our creator and that can drive our lives to be in full submission to Him, and in full pursuit of Him. The revelation that we have of our Lord in His word allows us to know more of Him. Never forget that we will always be learning more about God, we never need to have a moment of guilt or think that we have failed God because we do not know everything about Him. How can we ever expect to know everything about the eternal God. But let us seek the eternal creator God each and every day. As we seek and wait for His word, we can show the world that our God is our everything.
Does the Lord test us? He does, and in those tests, we can find our faith will grow. Are we willing to agree that all of what God decides is perfect? If we say that we are loved by a holy God, then we trust Him implicitly with every part of our lives. Maybe at this point we find ourselves being greatly challenged in our faith. That is okay as our faith is based on God’s strength, His actions, and what we know of Him through His word. We serve the Lord; He loves us and yet we may stumble. Remember the Lord loves us, no matter the day and we will always find the Lord loving us. In all the trials and afflictions let us cry out to the Lord confident in that His compassion is on us. Seek His law and let us find out that His law is our delight.
Has the world at times come against us in a strong way, that brings us to our knees? It is in these moments that we are on our knees that we will find God always present for us. The arrogant of the world may look upon us, the humble people of God, and find something that they do not understand. It seems here in this stanza that the Lord is making the promise to strengthen us always in His word, and in that strength, He is going to use us for His glory. Let us set our hearts before the Lord, seek His statutes, and as His glorious presence surrounds us, we will always find ourselves in His hand and never shamed.
My Lord and my God surround me with Your presence at this moment and at every moment. I know Lord, that You will rescue me and be with me through all the trials and tribulations of this world. Lord I am here to serve You and bring You glory with every aspect of my life. Lord in those moments of affliction may I be driven to Your perfect law. May Your perfect statues be something that I desire to study each day. Lord it is in Your precepts that I can find a greater revelation of who You are. You are my Creator, You are my God, You are my Savior. My Lord Jesus, You are my everything. I love You, Lord. Thank you for always loving me.
